War will further increase prejudices against South Sudanese

A human rights expert has warned of the grave effects an all out war could have between Sudan and South Sudan. Farouk Muhamed Ibrahim coordinator of the Sudanese Organisation for Defending Rights and Freedoms said war would increase the prejudices and harassment already faced by South Sudanese citiziens and further create divisions between them. He told Radio Tamazuj that after South Sudan gained independence last year Southerners in Sudan were subjected to more harassment amid a tense situation unfolding in the border areas between the two countries. Ibrahim said war would also gravely endanger nomadic groups that move between Sudan and South Sudan. He said the removal of nationality from South Sudanese citizens in Sudan is purely about discrimination and little to do with consitutional laws. This is also evident in the actions of authorities removing papers from those returning to the South.
