W Kordofan leader accuses peace committee of dragging feet

A native administration leader of the Arab Misseriya in Sudan’s West Kordofan State accused a mediation team of delaying its work to settle the feud between Awlad Omran and Al-Ziyoud.

A native administration leader of the Arab Misseriya in Sudan’s West Kordofan State accused a mediation team of delaying its work to settle the feud between Awlad Omran and Al-Ziyoud.

The mediating committee was formed at a peace conference held in En Nahud town in November 2014. In March 2015, clashes erupted between the Awlad Omran and Al-Ziyoud groups of the Misseriya at Kilo 13 in West Kordofan.

Ambadi Yehya, a Misseriya leader, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the mediation committee is not serious in implementing the reconciliation process before herders return back as this year’s rainy season nears.

Ambadi said a meeting of the native administration leaders would be held today Monday in Babanusa town. He added the meeting includes representatives of Al-Ziyoud and Awlad Omran clans to implement the Nahud peace resolutions after the mediation committee failed to do so.
