W Equatoria governor detained from traveling to Yambio

Western Equatoria State Governor Joseph Bangasi Bokosoro was detained from traveling this afternoon at Juba International Airport after being told by plainclothes security to disembark from an aircraft heading toward Yambio.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Western Equatoria State Information Minister Charles Kisanga said the governor will meet the president on Monday to know why he was prevented from traveling to Yambio.

"Yes, it is true that the governor was prevented from traveling to Yambio and he is now at his hotel in Juba," Kisanga said. The minister also admitted that some groups in Juba are lobbying for the removal of the governor.

Governor Bokosoro today boarded an airplane belonging to South Sudan Supreme airline after checking in and went inside the plane. A security personnel not wearing a uniform then approached him and said, “Your Excellency, you are needed in the VIP lounge.”

The governor disembarked to the VIP terminal and later was told not to leave Juba. Meanwhile, Radio Tamazuj has also learnt that the governor's wife Angeline Bokosoro was prevented from traveling to Kampala this morning.

She was told that she has a diplomatic passport and must therefore take a permission from the presidency in order to travel.
