Western Equatoria State government through its education ministry has announced national university scholarships for students seeking to further their education.

Western Equatoria State government through its education ministry has announced national university scholarships for students seeking to further their education.

The scholarship opportunities are for Diploma and Degree Programmes for students who sat the South Sudan Secondary Examinations.

The state education minister Grace Apollo Musa told Radio Tamazuj that the state ministry had received scholarship opportunities from the national government for the University of Juba, University of Bar El Ghazal, University of Upper Nile, and Rumbek University.

“We have scholarships, this one is for South Sudan Universities, we have for Juba, Malakal, and Wau. The students will go to universities in South Sudan. Students will apply for diploma or degree programs. The government will pay for tuition and accommodations, but there are things they will ask students to provide which will not be subsidized,” she said.

Minister Grace said eligible candidates must have passed the national examinations and applied for the scholarships.

“There are 100 forms given to us, if we manage to get these 100 students they will take them. They will also go through interviews, be shortlisted and their documents will be verified,” she said. “The process started on 11 April 2022 and will end on the 28th of this month. They have given us 17 days that is why we have passed information to other counties.”

The minister urged interested students to apply for the scholarship and assured them that the process will be transparent without favoritism and discrimination.
