Preparations are underway in Western Bahr el Ghazal State to roll out a malaria vaccination campaign across three counties starting on 3 July.
Dr. Francis Michael Hassan, the state’s health minister, told Radio Tamazuj that the training of personnel to administer the vaccine commenced on Friday last week.
Last week, Western Bahr el Ghazal State received a consignment of over 8,600 doses of malaria Vaccines from the national ministry of health in Juba.
“On 19 June 2024, we received 8,600 doses of malaria vaccines to be distributed to the counties. 1, 400 for Jur River County, 3,300 for Raja County, and 3,300 for Wau County,” he stated. “The training for the people, seven from each county and four people from the state headquarters, to administer the vaccine is ongoing and the launch will be on the 3 July 2024.”
The health minister said the exercise will be launched on 3 July and called on parents to cooperate so that children are vaccinated against malaria.
