Western Bahr el Ghazal State Legislative Assembly Speaker Awadhalla Nasir on Thursday dropped all the chairpersons and deputies of the House’s specialized committees and appointed new ones and described it as a change in line with the two-year extended transitional period.
The changes are as follows:
1. Hon. Jackline Julio Madut was reinstated as the Chairperson of the Peace and Security Committee.
2. Hon. Salah Salim Ismail was relieved as Chairperson of the Legislation and Legal Affairs Committee and replaced by William Kamilo Buluk.
3. Hon. Haggalla Simon Mohammed was relieved as Chairperson of the Information, Culture, Youth and Sports Committee and replaced by Hon. Joseph Mawut Athaian.
4. Hon. Fiddele Biringi Baden was relieved as Chairperson of the Labour and Public Service Committee and replaced by Hon. John Kosta Elario.
5. Hon. Haroun Abaker Haroun was relieved as Chairperson of the Economy, Finance, and Investment Committee and replaced by Cirilo Elias Unango.
6. Hon. Gabriel Gok Mawien was relieved as Chairperson of the Gender, Child, Human Rights, and Humanitarian Affairs Committee and replaced by David Alfred Deng.
7. Hon. Khamis Dahya Omeer was relieved as Chairperson of the Services and Members Affairs Committee and replaced by Mary Karlino.
8. Hon. Boul Peny Nydhe was relieved as Chairperson of the Physical Infrastructure and Natural Resources Committee and replaced by Anei Madut Chan.
The speaker also relieved the following deputy chairperson of standing committees and appointed replacement as follows:
1. Hon. Anei Madut Chan was relieved as Deputy Chairperson of the Peace and Security Committee and replaced by Hon. Regina Salvatore Uchalla.
2. Hon. Mary Stephen Uding was relieved as Deputy Chairperson of Legislation and Legal Affairs and replaced with Kur Tong Mading.
3. Hon. Nofal Osman Teirab was relieved as Deputy Chairperson of the Information, Culture, Youth and Sports Committee and replaced by Hon. Vivian Louis Sabah Kheir.
4. Hon. Akod Deng Dor was relieved as Deputy Chairperson of Labour and Public Services and replaced by Hon. Mary Stephen Uding.
5. Hon. Amansio Angelo Ungom was relieved as Deputy Chairperson of the Economy, Finance, and Investment Committee and replaced by Margaret Ceasar Zemangi.
6. Hon. Joseph Mawut Athian was relieved as Deputy Chairperson of the Gender, Child, Human Rights, and Humanitarian Affairs Committee and replaced by Mohammed Abaker Musa.
7. Hon. John Pangrasio Ukelo was relieved as Deputy Chairperson of Services and Members Affairs and replaced by Hon. Rita Lino Uchalla.
8. Hon. Cirilo Elias Unango was relieved as Deputy Chairperson of Physical Infrastructure and Natural Resources and replaced by Luciano Thomas Abdulla.
When contacted about the changes, Speaker Nasir said the changes are meant to meet the demands of the state’s citizens who need services delivery in the two years of the extended transitional period.
“There is peace and stability, so, let these people implement their program and plan as new committee chairpersons so that we renew the commitment to work because whenever there is change, the new people come with new work plans and I hope the work with go well,” he stated. “We are now in an extended period of two years and it needs hard work. We in the assembly of Western Bahr el Ghazal State have to focus on the needs of the citizens because there have been a lot of complaints.”
