The health minister in Western Bahr el Ghazal State said work at the office of the governor came to a standstill after some support staff and state ministers at the council of ministers building tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday.
According to health minister Vincent Taban, 10 samples tested out of 38 returned positive.
“We were able to collect like 38 samples from different people and out of these, ten were confirmed positive and we have just shared the report with the honorable governor and we will share the results with each of the individuals who tested positive,” Taban said.
He added that some members of the security committee, including some ministers and the head of the organized forces, also tested positive.
“Well, the state security committee, including some of the ministers and the head of the organized forces were positive,” Minister Taban said. “We are supposed to have a council of ministers meeting but my personal advice to the governor as the health minister is that that meeting should be postponed.”
He added: “I know that there are important issues to be discussed but again due to these infections we discouraged the meeting and said it must be adjourned.”
