The Western Bahr el Ghazal State Legislative Assembly speaker on Monday wrote a letter summoning the state coordinator of the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO), Stephen Robo, to appear before the house to explain comments he made in the media.

Speaker Mohammadeen Abaker Mohammadeen’s letter, a copy of which Radio Tamazuj has seen, was titled: ‘Summoned to present yourself before the Assembly Business Committee (ABC).’

“You are being called to come before the ABC to explain the statements you voiced on the media,” the letter read in part.

CEPO’S Robo was directed to appear at 10 am on 14 February.

He however says the summon is about remarks he made through the media in Wau last week.

“I questioned the state parliament on their performance and decision to retain the Raja County commissioner from returning to his headquarters on allegations of promoting gold mining in Boro Madina,” explained Robo.

Last month, the speaker of the Western Bahr el Ghazal State Legislative Assembly formed a committee to investigate the alleged illegal mining of gold in Raga County’s Boro-Madina area and ordered the commissioner to confine himself in Wau.
