A newly appointed member of parliament in the Western Bahr el Ghazal State Legislative Assembly Ernesto Paulino Apinyi succumbed to his injuries at the Wau Teaching Hospital on Friday after he was involved in a fatal accident on Thursday evening.
The late Honorable Paulino and others were coming from a funeral when the Landcruiser they were in overturned along the Aweil-Wau road. Two people died on the spot and others were rushed to Wau Teaching Hospital.
“Honorable Bol Paulino Apinyi, he is a son of our sister. He died yesterday at 8 am at the hospital and I was present at the hospital, I saw him when he died,” Peter Buolla, who was also hospitalized confirmed.
Honorable Mawut Athian, also a survivor of the accident, said the late had complained of severe chest pain after the accident.
“When the accident happened, we overturned and we got out. I was the first person who got up and I picked him up and asked him about his health and he was pointing at his chest,” Athian said.
Athian called for investigations into the accident which he says was caused when the Landcruiser and another vehicle were trying to overtake each other.
