W Bahr el Ghazal govt accuses rebels of attacking Bazia area

At least three SPLA soldiers were killed in an attack by armed opposition forces in Bazia payam in South Sudan’s Western Bahr al Ghazal state, a state official said.

Governor Rizig Zachariah Hassan said in a meeting with civil society organizations that a security force was dispatched to the area on Tuesday but came under an ambush south of Busseri area.

Wau County Commission Anthony Fada confirmed the incident also accused the SPLA-IO rebels of violating the peace agreement.

"The incident happened yesterday and today as well. The rebels attacked citizens in those areas. We regret it because there is peace, but they are still attacking the citizens," he claimed. “This shows that the SPLA-IO is not committed to peace agreement."

Radio Tamazuj couldn’t reach rebel officials in the area to comment on the incident.
