Western Bahr el Ghazal governor Rizig Zachariah Hassan is expected to visit Cairo early next week to explore trade and investment opportunities between Egypt and South Sudan.
It is the first of its kind for a governor from Western Bahr El Ghazal state to pay an official visit for consolidation of relations and economic ties with Egypt, the South Sudanese embassy said in a statement issued yesterday.
The governor is scheduled to meet the commissioners of Port Saeed, Alexandria, and Cairo provinces as well as business people in Egypt, according to the South Sudanese embassy in Cairo.
Rizig is also expected to meet people of Western Bahr el Ghazal living in Egypt.
In a press statement, head of Cairo Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ibrahim El Arabi said they have already received an official letter from South Sudan embassy in Cairo about the visit by Governor Rizig between between 22 to 30 August.
El Arabi said that the delegation will visit the chamber on 24 August where the two sides will discuss investment opportunities and review goods that can be exported by Egypt to South Sudan.
Governor Rizig will be accompanied by state ministers of Finance and Investment, Agriculture and Animal Resources, Youth and Sports, Education and Technology, Water and Irrigation and Parliamentary Affairs Advisor as well as Mayor of Wau Municipality.
