The governor of Western Bahr el Ghazal State, Sarah Cleto Rial, on Monday gifted the players of Hilal Football Club 30 plots of land after they trounced Zalan Football Club of Rumbek, Lakes State, last week.
The victorious Hilal FC players were warmly welcomed by jubilant Wau residents at the airport from where they were taken to the governor’s office.
Addressing the footballers, Governor Cleto said she had ordered the minister of lands and housing to begin allocating the plots of land to each player.
“We did not manage to provide you anything but thank God you have come back victorious and congratulations to you and Hilal FC,” Governor Cleto said. “The state government is giving every player a plot of land. So, they will be 30 plots in total.”
Last week Hilal FC defeated Zalan of Rumbek 2-0.
