The Security Advisor in Western Bahr el Ghazal State has urged Governor Sarah Cleto Rial to immediately return two Nissan vehicles donated to the state government by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) office in Wau.

Marko Peter Achor told Radio Tamazuj that the UNMISS field office approved and transferred two vehicles to the state’s Council of Ministers to be used by the state security advisor and the advisor of the state human rights commission. He said the two cars were handed to Governor Cleto who unfortunately diverted them to her home in Juba.

“Due to my challenge of transport in the state and because the security advisor does not have a car since last year, I wrote a request to UNMISS and I did several follow-ups with them and recently they donated two vehicles to the security advisor, and human rights commission advisor,” he explained. “However, when the two cars were donated, the state governor took them, and up to now we do not know the whereabouts of the cars.”

“Based on the information I have, the governor received the two cars and she sent them to Juba on her own without information to me and the state government and this was help from the UNMISS to the two state advisors,” Achor added.

The security advisor said he has been following the issue and that he has documents from the UNMISS office confirming that the two cars were received by the governor.

“I went to the office of UNIMSS and found the document detailing how the state governor received the two cars without information to me or the state government,” he stated. “The UNMISS state field coordinator, Sam Muhamure, handed over the two cars to Governor Sarah Cleto and based on the information I got, the two cars have reached Juba. This means that the governor has owned the cars and this is why I came to media because I have no other mains to follow the issue.”

Achor said the vehicles were not meant for his personal use but for the state government.

“Let these two cars be returned to the state so that they can be used for the state government purposes,” he concluded.

Governor Cleto who is in Juba was not immediately reachable for comment.
