Primary school examination results have been announced yesterday by the State Ministry of Education in South Sudan’s Western Bahr el Ghazal state, a local official said.
Atanasio Surur, state minister of education, said the overall pass rate was 70.1%. He added this year’s results are much better compared to last year.
However, the official admitted that the results show low pass rate of girls who sat for the exams. But he noted there was an increase in number of girls from Jur River County.
The state minister pointed out that private schools have outperformed government schools this year.
Surur indicated that the results of Raja County have decreased compared to last year. He attributed the problem to lack of teachers.
The official also complained about the lack of teachers across the state, disclosing that most of the teachers are still under training.
