Volunteers help in road work in Aweil East

Volunteers repaired a road in Northern Bahr El Ghazal state in an exercise organized by Mercy Corps, according to a report by a local FM station.

More than one thousand people of Yargot Payam in Aweil East County turned up to help in the work.

Luka Kuol Guot, a team supervisor, told Nhomlau FM that the road-building aimed at ending the isolation of Yargot payam. He said the community was willing to fix the road, but lacked tools.

Debora Nyibol Yuot, an old woman, is a member of the road construction team. She said even though she had no energy, she she could give her little contribution by clearing grass and bringing water.

Mercy Corps has given a deadline of six months for completion of the road.
