Voice of Love radio station reopens in Malakal

The radio station of the Catholic Diocese of Malakal resumed broadcasting yesterday after a year off-air.

The radio station of the Catholic Diocese of Malakal resumed broadcasting yesterday after a year off-air.

Radio Saut Al-Mahabba, meaning Voice of Love’ in English, was damaged and looted in February 2014, when the town was attacked repeatedly. Last month a technician from Italy repaired the station.

All of the FM and AM radio stations in the Upper Nile region of South Sudan went off-air at least temporarily during the war last year.

Diocese of Malakal Apostolic Administrator Monsignor Roko Taban Musa authorized the radio reopening after consultations with members of the Catholic Radio Network board.

“Saut al-Mahabba delivers messages of peace and consolation to Upper Nile listeners,” the Catholic Radio Network reported.
