Dozens of families among them children and elderly who fled the conflict in Wonduruba payam in Central Equatoria State two weeks ago say they are running out of food.
Some of the displaced told Radio Tamazuj that they are hiding in the Kubu Forest without proper shelter after escaping an attack on Nanzle village by gunmen wearing military uniforms.
One woman said they are hungry and that they have been in the forest for nine days. Others said the Central Equatoria authorities have no presence in the area.
Meanwhile, villagers who fled to Lainya County are also facing food shortages in spite of greater accessibility of the area, which lies along a main road south from Juba. Sources from the county said they fear lack of food and shelter would be worse if it rains over the next two months.
The displaced are urging humanitarian agencies and government authorities to intervene and provide them with relief items.
