About 5,000 families who were left homeless after heavy rains pounded neighbourhoods in Al Nahood town of Sudan’s West Kordofan State last week refused to accept humanitarian aid brought in by Sudan’s Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) to support them.
The rains left many displaced and property destroyed in Dugul, Sunun, Shaigiya and Shaigiya North neighbourhoods of Al Nahood town.
A resident of AlNahood area Ahmed Abdallah told Radio Tamazuj that the HAC has downplayed the impact of the disaster and has sent aid that is not equivalent to the damage caused.
He claimed HAC has been giving much larger support to flood-affected victims in north and eastern Sudan, even though the amount of destruction was less than what happen in Al Nahood.
HAC over the weekend brought 200 bags of lentils, 504 jars of cooking oil, 405 plastic sheets and 500 mats to Al Nahood victims
