Venue of Boma-Jongei peace talks shifts to Kapoeta

The Governor of Jonglei State, Philip Aguer Panyang, said the venue of peace talks between Boma and his state has been shifted to Kapoeta state instead of Terekeka area that was suggested to be the venue of the peace talks between the two states.

The Governor of Jonglei State, Philip Aguer Panyang, said the venue of peace talks between Boma and his state has been shifted to Kapoeta state instead of Terekeka area that was suggested to be the venue of the peace talks between the two states.

Aguer told a congregation at St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Bor on Sunday that the Governor of Boma State Ismail Konyi prefers Kapoeta over Terekeke.

Jonglei and Boma states have accused each other of child abductions, cattle raiding and the killing of civilians.

The peace conference between the two states was scheduled to take place in March in Terekeka state but the proposed meeting collapsed for unclear reasons.

A resident, who preferred anonymity, told Radio Tamazuj that he does agree with the proposed new venue. He suggested Akobo as the right venue if Boma officials do not want to go to Terekeka.
