Vaccination campaign for 8,000 cattle in Twic East

A vaccination drive began Saturday for over 8,000 cattle in Twic East County in South Sudan’s Jonglei State, according to a local official.

A vaccination drive began Saturday for over 8,000 cattle in Twic East County in South Sudan’s Jonglei State, according to a local official.

County Commissioner Dau Akoi Jurkuch told Radio Tamazuj that the vaccination period started Saturday and will last three months in order to cover all five payams in the County.

“We have started the campaign for cattle on 6 November in order to cover the five payams,” he said. “Over the two years or from 2013 to 2014, the county suffered, most of the cattle died of diseases,” he added.

The county official further said the campaign kicked off after a four-day training workshop for local staff to assist aid organizations. He pointed out that the campaign is supported by FAO and a German organization.
