A campaign to vaccinate against six childhood diseases kicked off yesterday in Renk county in South Sudan’s Upper Nile state.

Chol Ayak Kom, the director of health services, told Radio Tamazuj from Renk that the vaccination process started on 8 December and will end after two days.

He said the campaign targets children from 6 months to 15 years old in the various payams and administrative units including Joda checkpoint along the Upper Nile-White Nile border.

However, Kom said the county is deserted due to the insecurity. He urged the families that are still residing in Renk to cooperate with the vaccination teams in order to eliminate the six childhood diseases in the county.
