The State Ministry of Health in Aweil together with the World Health Organization and UNICEF have launched a four-day vaccination campaign against polio targeting more than 400 children.
Polio is one of the six childhood diseases that are prevented by the vaccination.
In a press statement, the deputy governor of Aweil State Simon Uber Mawut thanked the international partners for supporting the program in the state.
For his part, Kuol Manyang Deng who heads the Expanded Programme on Immunization in Aweil said that the ongoing drive targets 400 children.
Kuol pointed out that the campaign which will be concluded on Friday helps immunize against polio.
