The head of the Catholic Diocese of Wau in Western Bahr el Ghazal State South Sudan has called upon all the faithful to focus on and use the synods for the improvement of the church’s services.
While celebrating mass at the Cathedral of St. Mary in Wau town on Christmas Eve, Bishop Matthew Remijo Adam said the diocese had introduced the synod system to give the faithful full rights in deciding which kind of church they believe will improve spiritually.
“We launched the synods board in November and Synod means moving together,” Bishop Remijo said. “The church loves to hear from all the faithful including government institutions, they also have a chance to raise their voices to the church about which kind of church they want. We need our diocese to be open to all.”
The Bishop said the commission will move to the different parts of the diocese to collect the ideas and opinions of the faithful.
“When the time comes, we have our commission which will reach the people in our different locations so that each one can express their feelings and also give suggestions to the church,” Bishop Remijo said. “The church is ours and we all must move together towards building the garden of heaven on earth.”
Last month, the Diocese of Wau formed a commission to lead the synod system which will give the public rights to evaluate the work of the church and come up with the recommendations for the perfection of preaching the word of God.
The synods also aim at uniting the church and evaluating its mission and vision.
