Opposition politicians in Northern Bahr al Ghazal State have criticized the newly formed cabinet for not including any members of the non-SPLM political parties in the state.
The state cabinet appointed by General Akot Deng Akot was sworn on Tuesday at the council of ministers in Aweil and presented to the state assembly for endorsement.
During debate on the issue, some members questioned why the caretaker governor had excluded the political parties from any posts in the new government. USAP party member in the state parliament Aluet Mawein said she was not happy about the governor’s decision to exclude other parties.
“We should be participating in the government so that we can be working together for the country,” said the USAP parliament member.
However, parliament spokeman Achak Thiep said the cabinet “was endorsed without any objection.”
