The US Embassy in Juba has introduced a temporary change for its personnel after fighting erupted on the outskirts of the nation’s capital on Thursday night.

The US Embassy in Juba has introduced a temporary change for its personnel after fighting erupted on the outskirts of the nation’s capital on Thursday night.

“Effective immediately and until 6:30 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2018, the Embassy travel policy will limit unofficial/personal movements within Juba,” partly reads a statement issued by the embassy.

“During this time unofficial/personal travel must conclude by 7:00 p.m.; and the curfew for official travel remains 8:30 p.m.,” adds the statement

The embassy encouraged U.S. citizens to take similar precautions and to monitor the situation.

The U.S. embassy also reminded its citizens to have evacuation plans that do not rely on U.S. government assistance, and should carry medical evacuation insurance.
