US dollar rises against Sudanese pound, prices shoot up at market

The price of the US dollar has reportedly witnessed significant increase in the black market in the Sudanese capital Khartoum yesterday, settling at 14 Sudanese pounds (SDG).

The price of the US dollar has reportedly witnessed significant increase in the black market in the Sudanese capital Khartoum yesterday, settling at 14 Sudanese pounds (SDG).

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, several citizens have complained of rise in prices of goods in the market due to rise of dollar exchange against the Sudanese pound.

Elsewhere, residents at Zarafa, Wakara, Balula and Tartar villages in Abassiya locality in South Kordofan expressed discontent about rising prices of essential commodities.

“A sack of sugar has increased from 280 SDG to 450 SDG, whereas a sack of sorghum at the market has risen from 150 SDG to 300 SDG,” one of citizens said.
