A delegation from the United States Department, Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration is scheduled to visit South Sudanese refugees in Sudan’s White Nile state next week to assess the humanitarian situation.
In a press statement on Thursday, the delegation said they will visit refugee camps of Jebelain and Al-Salam on Monday and Tuesday to assess their humanitarian situation with regard to the availability of services such as water, health, education and shelter.
One of the Sudanese camp managers, Abdul Aziz, told radio Tamazuj that the number of South Sudanese refugees keeps increasing significantly. He confirmed that nearly 1200 have arrived in the area in January alone.
White Nile state of Sudan is home to a large number of South Sudanese refugees who have fled the war.
