Uror youths recover 3,000 raided cows

Youths in Uror County of South Sudan’s Jonglei state on Wednesday foiled a cattle raid by an armed youth group and recovered all the raided cows. 

Uror County Executive director Peter Dak Wiluoth told Radio Tamazuj that the raid took place at the county headquarters of Yuai on Wednesday afternoon. 

“Those armed attackers launched the attack while the cattle were being grazed. They managed to go away with 3,000 cows which were later recovered by our youth,” he said. 

For his part, Gatbel Machar, the county police inspector, said calm was restored to Yuai after their youths fought off the attackers and recovered all the raided 3,000 animals. 

He pointed out that one herdsman was injured during the attack is being treated at a health facility in the county.     

The county authorities said the raiders were unidentified.
