Uror: Man shoots boy dead, injures 3 people at a wedding ceremony

A 13-year-old boy was killed and three other people, including two women, were injured when a man opened fire on a group of people at a wedding ceremony in Uror County in Jonglei State on Tuesday, a local official said.

A 13-year-old boy was killed and three other people, including two women, were injured when a man opened fire on a group of people at a wedding ceremony in Uror County in Jonglei State on Tuesday, a local official said. 

“The incident happened on Tuesday at 10 pm in the Rubliah area in Pulchuol Payam. There was a wedding ceremony attended by people from the Karam area,” Machot Gatluak Kenyjak, Uror County commissioner, told Radio Tamazuj. “While people were celebrating, a man who is also from Karam opened fire on fellow celebrants killing one and he injured three others.”

The local official identified the deceased as Gatluak Both Kuany and that the other injured boy and two women were nursing their wounds at a health facility in the county. 

For his part, Lt. Col. Peter Gatbel Machar, the county police inspector, said the incident was being investigated. 

“The prime suspect has escaped to Nyirol County. And as police, we are currently holding two siblings to the suspect until an arrest is made for the escapee,” he said.
