A man was waylaid and killed by unknown assailants in Uror County, Jonglei State, on Saturday, a local official said.

Machot Gatluak Kenyjak, the Uror County commissioner, told Radio Tamazuj that the deceased, identified as Geng Jie Chan, was heading to his home after visiting a neighbor’s house when he was killed on Saturday night.

“He was killed by unknown criminals at 10 pm in Pathai. He was going to his house after visiting a neighbor,” Commissioner Gatluak said. “There is no evidence that it was a revenge killing or related to cattle a raid.”

“So, the reason for his killing is not known to us,” he added.

Gatbel Machar, the county police inspector, said a case has been opened and that an investigation was ongoing.
