Herders among communities living in South Sudan’s Upper Nile say their livestock are infected by diseases after Sudanese pastoralists crossed with their cattle into the state.

Riak Bol, head of the British-based organization Concordis in Upper Nile State, said they will hold a grassroots meetings between the Upper Nile communities and the Sudanese pastoralists who migrate seasonally into Upper Nile State for grazing.

He said they are currently facing challenges in the areas controlled by the rebels because no agreement was signed with them.

Bol further said the Upper Nile pastoralists in those areas are complaining of diseases due to lack of vaccines for the Sudanese pastoralists’ herders.
