The Upper Nile Security Advisor claimed that humanitarian agencies have resumed operations in Maban County following clashes between the Maban Defence Force (MDF) and army defectors in Upper Nile, South Sudan.
At least six aid workers suspected of being Nuer were killed during the fighting, forcing humanitarian organizations to pull out hundreds of staff and suspend distribution of relief items until the perpetrators were apprehended.
The security situation in Bunj town has return to normal, Advisor John Ivo Mounto told Radio Tamazuj Friday.
“I can say the security situation is calm and everything in Maban has return to normal, residents had also returned back homes. So there is no problem at all,” he said.
He said that a few days ago a considerable number of aid workers came back to resume their work in the county. He added that the majority of organizations are currently transporting their employees back to the area after the incident was controlled.
