Upper Nile State Minister of Information Daniel Yor Akiech said they haven’t started awareness campaigns about the signed peace agreement in the state because of lack of radio facilities.

Yor told Radio Tamazuj that the conflict damaged radio stations so it is difficult to distribute information about the peace deal.

“For us to tell the citizens that the peace has been signed and other details needs media. Now Malakal Radio is off air,” he said, adding that sharing peace messages is very important.

Yor said the government has urged citizens in the United Nations base to return home to Malakal, which is now deserted after two years of fighting.

He said the state government remains committed to implementing the peace agreement. He said the war is not in the interest of the citizens.
