Upper Nile governor removes deputy governor

The governor of South Sudan’s Upper Nile state Simon Kun Puoc issued a decree removing Deputy Governor John Ivo Mounto from office with effect from 24 April 2014.

After removing the deputy governor, the governor issued another decree appointing his successor, Awir Dau Agany. The latter was serving as state food security advisor, and has now been relieved of that post in order to take up the new role.

The relieved deputy governor has been reassigned as Security Affairs Advisor and the Widow’s Affairs Advisor Gabriel Tut Gatchai has been relieved of that position and appointed as the new Food Security Advisor.

The governor gave no reasons for the removal of the deputy governor and reshuffle, which was announced by South Sudan Television (SSTV) yesterday in Juba.
