Updated: President Kiir appoints son of head of Dinka council of elders

South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir on Saturday issued a decision removing Mary Jervas Yak from her position as deputy minister of finance and replaced her with Mou Ambrose Riiny Thiik.

South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir on Saturday issued a decision removing Mary Jervas Yak from her position as deputy minister of finance and replaced her with Mou Ambrose Riiny Thiik.

Mou’s father is the chairman of the Jieng (Dinka) Council of Elders that serves informally as an advisory group to President Kiir.
