UNMISS trains Wau MPs on protection of civilians mandate

The United Nation Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) organized a one day workshop Tuesday for members of the Wau legislative assembly on the role of UNMISS in protection of civilians and peacekeeping in the country.

The United Nation Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) organized a one day workshop Tuesday for members of the Wau legislative assembly on the role of UNMISS in protection of civilians and peacekeeping in the country.

UNMISS civil affairs officer in Wau Mustafa Tegan Kela said the workshop aims at enlightening the state MPs on the role of UNMISS in protection of civilians and how to coordinate with state institutions and local administrative.

He added that the legislative assembly is to coordinate and cooperate with UNMISS to facilitate its work in protection of civilians and peacekeeping.

Kela stressed the important of conducting such workshops to provide MPs with enough information about the mission the role of the state legislative assembly.

He reiterated the importance of peaceful coexistence and lasting peace and stability in South Sudan.  

For his part, speaker of Wau Legislative Assembly Anyar Anyar urged the members of the parliament to benefit from the information they received from the workshop and educate the citizens about the role of UNMISS in the country.
