UNMISS donates four vehicles to Central Equatoria State

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) on Wednesday donated four vehicles to the Central Equatoria Government aimed at strengthening peace partnership with the state.

UNMISS head of field office in Central Equatoria Njoki Kinyanjui said the donation signifies the cooperation between the two institutions in advancing peace in the state.

“Today is an exceptional day and these are the milestones of partnership and looking at collaboration and cooperation in terms of how we advance peace and security, human rights and gender in Central Equatorial State,” Kinyanjui said.

She said these are the fruits of cooperation.

“Indeed, this signifies that we have some fruits of cooperation and how we can work together to serve the people of Central Equatorial State. Once again, I just want to appreciate the open door policy that we have, not only as the state secretariat, but with all the ministries as well as with all the commissioners and at the parliament level”

UNMISS said the vehicles are meant to support the mobility of the peace actors in the various institutions, including the legislative assembly’s committee for Gender, Child and Human Rights.

State Deputy Governor Paulino Lokudu Obede commended UNMISS for the support.

“On behalf of the Governor, we have to appreciate UNMISS for its continued cooperation with the State Government in making peace and security stabilization,” Obede said.

The Deputy Governor said the vehicles were donated at a time when the State was facing challenges in mobility, pointing that South Sudan was facing severe economic hardship.
