UNMISS calls on govt to ends atrocities against civilians in Wau

The UNMISS Coordinator in Wau has called on the government to put an end to the atrocities committed against civilians in Wau.

UNMISS Coordinator in Wau, Winny Babi Huga, condemned in a speech at the state legislative assembly in the presence of Governor Elias Waya the atrocities that have been happening in Wau town.  

She said that during the ten years of her work in South Sudan she never saw such atrocities of cutting human bodies and burning homes of citizens.

Huga called on the government to put an end to these atrocities.

Wau town and surrounding area has witnessed continued security tensions which resulted in the killing of many civilians and continued arbitrary arrests with the government accused of carrying out the acts.
