Renk County Commissioner Lual Deng Chol told Radio Tamazuj that an armed group believed to be rebels killed two brothers at Wunamith village and torched three houses on Saturday.

He further said that the same criminal group killed some cattle and that government forces are now pursuing them.

Local residents in Renk expressed their concern about insecurity following rumors that the rebels were planning to attack the area in the last few days.

Commissioner Lual claimed the security situation is calm.  He said that fear among citizens started when an armed group of four people entered a small village near Jarbena.
