Unknown armed men have robbed Winrock International organization’s compound on Saturday night in Kuacjok town.

The armed men cut the fence and entered the compound, tied a security guard and locked him up in a room before they broke into offices and took off with a motor bike, three laptops and many bags the agency was planning to give to schools, a source explained to Radio Tamazuj today.

In remarks to worshippers at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Deputy Governor Santino Akot Abiem asked the state police commissioner and Kuacjok municipality council to find and arrest culprits who loot citizens’ and NGOs’ properties in Kuacjok and other parts in the state.

“On the issue of thieves, it is good that the police commissioner is here with us together with town mayor and commissioners of Kuac South and North. I want to tell you that these thieves must to be tracked down and arrested and if you fail to arrest them then that means there is no government,” said Akot in the church.

For his part, the police commissioner John Akot Maluth, said that the police are aware of organized robbery activities going on in the state adding that the police have already arrested some suspects.

“The robbery activities recently happened here in Kuajok town is a very organized one because it never happened for a hospital and president’s home to be looted – and can you imagine? The home of a president of the country,” said Akot.

“But we have arrested the suspects and they are undergoing investigation now,” he added.

Also in Kuacjok, St. Joseph Parish Priest Paul Ariath has complained that even church properties have been stolen by unknown people who broke into the church and stole chairs and other properties belonging to the church in recent months.
