Students at Dr. John Garang Memorial University of Science and Technology in Bor town complained that their daily meals have been reduced.

Last week, Lil Transport Company, a firm contracted by the higher learning institution to supply food said it would provide one meal per day instead of two meals, citing unpaid arrears.

Several students told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that the cut in their daily meals is affecting their studies.

“There is one meal now per day in the university. If this continues, it will not be good. As students, we cannot study without food, “Lual Abraham, the student’s representative said.

The students appealed to the government to intervene.

Augustino Majak, Dean of Students’s Affairs confirmed the students’ food rations have been reduced, adding the university administration is engaging the company to resolve the issue.

For his part, Santino Akot, field manager of the contracted company said the government failed to pay their arrears since 2016.
