South Sudan’s national Ministry of Finance has agreed to pay three-month salary arrears for the University of Juba employees.
Professor Milton Malingasuk, of the Department of International and Public Relations Office, told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that they have not yet received the money and are not sure when the remaining arrears will be cleared.
“They have agreed to pay three months. This is the three months arrears. The other three months is not yet. But still, we have not even seen the money but they are doing the process. We got the information yesterday (Monday) that they will pay the three-month arrears but they have not talked about the other remaining months,” he said.
Two weeks ago, the University of Juba Deans Board threatened to lay down their tools if the six-month salary arrears is not paid. The university officials also resolved that their salary arrears be paid using the new salary structure.
