Unity-Warrap border calm after cattle raid

The Information Minister of Warrap State said the situation is now calm at Ajakuac payam after a cattle raider near the border with Unity state earlier this week.

Paul Dhol, State Minister of Information told Radio Tamazuj Wednesday that on Sunday evening national police and local armed youths clashed with cattle raiders at Ajakuac bordering Unity's Mayom County.

The spokesperson said eight cows were stolen before the raiders scattered. There were no reports of casualties.

Dhol said he suspected the gunmen were rebels and accused them of planning to raid cattle from Twic County.

“Unity state is full of cattle raiders since the state experienced defections and now rebels are hungry and they are seriously looking for cows as food,” Dhol charged.

Separately, Gogrial East County Commissioner Wol Anai Anai told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday he feared attacks on his area.
