Unity State to hire 1, 000 police officers

 New Unity State Police Commissioner Gatkuoth Duop has announced the recruitment of 1,000 new officers.

Duop, who was speaking during the governor’s visit to the Bentiu camp for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), said the camp residents would be considered.

He said that there was a need for additional police to ensure security and the protection of the civilians.

The hiring, said the police boss, would be conducted in the IDP camp and in Panyjijiar, Guit, Rubkona, Koch, Mayom, Leer and Mayendit counties. Each county has been allocated at least 100 slots and the IDP camp 200, he said.

He disclosed that the training for the recruits would start in the state capital in next three.
