At least 4,000 Necessary Unified Forces are expected to graduate in Unity State’s Bentiu town on November 26, army officials said.
Last week, at least 5,000 forces who underwent training at the Muom Training Center in Leer County graduated. During that ceremony, army officials said another batch of 4,000 forces would graduate last Monday.
However, that graduation has been postponed to the 26th of November 2022.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, Major General William Manyang Mayak, the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) 4th Infantry Division commander in Unity State said the graduation was postponed due to logistical reasons.
“The uniforms that were supplied from Juba to Unity state last week are not enough for the unified police in Unity State. That’s the only reason why the unified forces were not graduated on Monday 14. That’s why the graduation of unified forces has been postponed to Saturday next week,” he said.
The commander called on all citizens of Unity State to come out in numbers to witness the graduation that will take place at the Bentiu Independence Stadium.
The national government graduated more than 20,000 unified forces at the end of August.
