Unity state capital moving from Bentiu to Mayom due to insecurity

The government of Unity State, South Sudan is transferring its capital to Mayom County due to deteriorating security in Bentiu town.

Several government officials who were staying in Juba have already moved from to Mankien area in Mayom County.

Unity State Minister of Information Peter Makuoth Malual said the first group was led by the Deputy Governor Mabek Lang, while the second group departed Sunday, according to Al Maugif newspaper.

The minister confirmed his government’s commitment to pay March salaries to government employees. Makuoth said committees have been dispatched to tour all counties in preparation for the payment of the salaries.
