A trader arrested over last week’s attack on Unity State Governor’s convoy at Ngol in Rotriak payam of Rubkona has been released.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, Kai Riak Teny confirmed his release from Bhar Prison on Wednesday, saying he had not been harassed by security forces at the facility.
“Yes, they detained me at Bhar Prison for one week interrogation by the security personnel. After the investigation, they just released me from detention without taking me to court,” Riak Teny said.
He said he has been falsely accused to be a soldier allied to the SPLA-IO. “I told them that I was not a soldier before South Sudan’s conflict, and they continued to claim I was a soldier allied to SPLA-IO during the 2014 conflict,” Riak Teny said.
However, efforts to reach SSPDF officials in the area to comment on the issue were frustrated as calls went unanswered.
