Unity State and Ruweng Administrative Areas hold peace dialogue

The governments of Unity State and the Ruweng Administrative Areas have concluded a one-day peace dialogue on the issues affecting the Parieng and Bentiu communities.

The dialogue, held in Parieng Town on Friday, was supported by UNMISS.

A similar dialogue will be held in Bentiu Town next week.

The Acting Head of UNMISS field office, Stella Abayomi, appreciated the two governments for honoring a call to normalize the situations affecting the communities in Unity State and the Ruweng Administrative Areas.

She added that the dialogue was important since the Ruweng and the Unity State communities are one.

The Chief Administrator of Ruweng Administrative Area, Molana Tiob Monyluak, said the two governments would work collectively to bring durable peace to the two communities.

Monyluak appealed to both communities to follow the developments in Bentiu next Wednesday.

Unity State Governor Justice Riek Bim Top said the dialogue was very fruitful.

He added that the media played a critical role in promoting peace and development.

Edmund Yakani, the Executive Director of Community Empowering and Development Organization, who was also the moderator during the discussion, thanked the two governments for taking the initiative to resolve their cross-border issues.
