General Akot Deng Akot, deputy inspector General of police said Monday that the unity of Aweil community is paramount. He described recent reconciliation between General Paul Malong Awan, chief of general staff of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) with General Dau Aturjong as a wise move. Akot calls “the destructive powers of those who sow hatred and rancor have influenced the opinion of the population. Peace will triumph and the people of Aweil will keep working to build a stable peace”.

He was responding to a question asking the significance of the reconciliation between Paul Malong and Dau Aturjong, saying it was create harmony and political cohesion in the area and with the neighbours.

“Malong and Dau were comrades, they were all fighters and at the same times they are from our Aweil community. They are sons of the area and whatever issues can be resolved so that people can work together so that our people live in peace and harmony. The unity of our people, the people of Aweil is paramount”, said Akot. Dau and Malong, he said, have agreed to work together
