Unity governor reinstates Pariang chiefs sacked by his deputy

Unity state Caretaker Governor Joseph Nguen Monytuil has called on Pariang County commissioner Manylang De Manyiel Thowel to immediate reinstate local chiefs who had been dismissed from their duties.

Unity state Caretaker Governor Joseph Nguen Monytuil has called on Pariang County commissioner Manylang De Manyiel Thowel to immediate reinstate local chiefs who had been dismissed from their duties.

According to the governor’s press secretary Benson Mayen, on Tuesday the traditional chiefs were relieved following a longstanding political dispute between SPLM officials and a group allied to deputy governor Mabek Lang De Mading.

Mayen confirmed to Radio Tamazuj by phone that the chiefs were removed from their posts because of what he described as a political internal conflict within SPLM county secretariat, but a consensus was reached on Tuesday between the conflicting parties.

“Both officials agreed to make peace and reconciliation,” he said, adding the two parties “will work under one umbrella.”

He said the order came ahead of several petitions by local county chiefs to the governor’s office in which they accused the commissioner of fueling internal conflicts.

Mayen said that political affairs advisor Paul Liliy Mathoat and local government advisor Benjamin Majak Dau have been assigned to lead the process of reconciliation in the Pariang community.
